Food insecurity continues to be a significant issue in our area, with one-quarter of the children in the Monroe school district qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches. Within Snohomish County, nearly 90,000 residents are not sure where their next meal is coming from, and 1 out of 5 children are at risk of hunger.
Every week we provide food for an average of around 400 families through our Market and our weekend food bags. This amounts to more than 100,000 pounds of food distributed every month—over one million pounds per year! About 60,000 of those pounds are donated by our community and our business partners but the remaining 40,000 pounds we distribute every month are purchased with donations from our community.
